How to make a Bouquet of fresh flowers

Firstly, we need to understand how a wedding bouquet differs from any other, for example, from a bouquet to September 1, anniversary or March 8.

Secondly, think over the combination of the bouquet with the general image of the main character.

A bridal bouquet is not just a set of flowers for one's own taste, it is always a definite shape: round or cascading (a waterfall bouquet or a drop bouquet).

Round, the simplest is a compact hemisphere, with an average diameter of 20-30 cm. Why geometry: a larger bouquet will draw attention to itself, and a smaller one will look too frivolous.

In addition, all stems of flowers and leaves of a wedding bouquet should be carefully collected and wrapped with a floral or satin ribbon - it has no right to crumble in your hands at a crucial moment!

A bridal bouquet, in a laconic style in one color scheme without bright colors, will emphasize the thoughtfulness of the dress. A unique bouquet with an original combination of flowers and leaves, on the contrary, will favorably set off a simple dress.

Please note that you will be holding the bouquet with both hands, at some moments lower your arms down just below the waist line. Therefore, when trying on a dress, think about how it might look - this will help you determine the size and shape of the bridal bouquet.

What you need to compose a wedding bouquet

You will need:

  • Natural flowers
  • sharp scissors
  • floristic tape (tape tape)
  • thermo gun
  • ribbon for decorating a bouquet (satin or lace)
  • floral mesh or organza

Tape tape is a tape, 13 mm wide, of various shades, with a slight adhesive effect, with the help of which the petioles of cut leaves and flower stalks of cut flowers are fixed. It is needed in order to strengthen the most fragile part of the plant. In addition, the floristic tape allows you to isolate (tap) sections of stems and leaves, preventing moisture evaporation and rapid wilting. Ribbons are sold in a variety of colors, but white or green is suitable for a wedding bouquet.

If you are going to repeatedly make bouquets, then the floral ribbon is the material that is worth spending money on. If tape is not sold in your city, and there is no way to buy it through an online store, then the easiest way out is plumbing tape for sealing pipes. It is about the same width, stretches well, easy to lie down. But she is always white, which is quite appropriate in a wedding bouquet.

Do not try to use duct tape or tape - this is too rough material.

Floral wire will be necessary if you want to use succulents in a bouquet, for example, echiveria rosettes, rejuvenated - they do not have a long stem, so you have to fix them by stringing the fleshy center of the rosette on the wire and decorating with floral tape.

In addition to flowers in the bouquet, greens (twigs and leaves) of both garden and indoor flowers can be used:

  • Caladium - leaves of any color, traditionally silver or red
  • Croton - variegated leaves

  • Hosta - leaves
  • Horsetail - twigs
  • Cineraria - silvery leaves
  • Eucalyptus - silvery leaves

Any cut flowers and leaves must be properly preserved so that they do not fade over the next few days!

To do this, all freshly cut flowers, or bought and brought from the store, must be prepared. Dip the stalks of the flowers and leaves into the water, and cut off about 1 cm of the bottom under water. We cut them under water so that the air does not penetrate the stems. And after taking it out, we immediately put it in a vase with fresh water.

Next, you need to prevent decay and nourish the flowers. You may be surprised, but in ordinary flower shops, even the most expensive ones, they often save on special preservatives (they contain a disinfectant to prevent the growth of bacteria) and drip an ordinary whiteness or a similar agent into a vase of flowers (Domestos, etc.).

You can do the same, drop 1 drop of whiteness on 1 vase - this is enough so that the water does not deteriorate for several days.

In addition, flower fertilizers are added to the cutting water. There are special products, for example, from Bona Forte (2 caps for 1.5 liters of water) "Concentrate for cut flowers". It includes:

  • Sucrose hydrolyzate
  • Potassium alum
  • Boric acid
  • Water

A very good tool used by florists - Chrysal clear - as a top dressing for cut flowers, allows you to keep them fresh for 1.5-2 weeks. Greenworld Fresh Cut Flower Retainer also slows down the wilting process.

Using similar cutting agents and preservatives, you can prepare yourself or your friend a bouquet for a wedding a day or two before the most hectic and troublesome gatherings. But while the bouquet is waiting for the celebration, it is advisable to keep it cool (12-15 degrees).

Composing a round (in the form of a hemisphere) bouquet is not difficult.

We wrap each individual flower stalk with a floral tape, retreating from the flower calyx about 2-2.5 cm. If the flowers are small, on thin pedicels, then you can wrap them, collecting three pieces together.

If the flower stems are too thin, then you can strengthen the base of the bouquet with a wire. Insert it in the center between the stems of the flowers already wrapped in floristic tape.

If there are not many flowers, the bouquet is small, then before forming the base of the bouquet, you can wrap a floral net (spider web), organza around the flowers, laying folds and gathering material. You can pack the bouquet in white lace.

Now you can start wrapping with decorative tape. Using a heat gun, apply glue to the end of the petioles, glue the tip of the tape and begin to spiral the tape around the bottom of the stems and along the entire length from bottom to top. Also secure the end of the tape with a glue gun (cut off the excess ends of the tape).

Disadvantages of wedding bouquets from natural flowers

The main drawback is the fragility of the bouquet. You can make it from freshly cut flowers two days before the celebration, and it will last another week, provided that the flowers in the vase were stored in a solution with preservative and fertilizer, and during the ceremony, the bouquet was not placed too often on a horizontal surface.

The irregularly assembled flower heads break the round proportion of the bouquet.

Without a floral ribbon and proper fixation of the bouquet, it begins to fall apart and fade right at the wedding ceremony.

But this bouquet can hardly be called a wedding bouquet, sunflowers are more likely to be suitable for a bouquet for a first-grader on September 1.

The use of a floral ribbon, of course, helps to maintain a strong structure, allows you to throw the bride's bouquet, according to tradition, far into the crowd of girlfriends, but in order to save at least some memory from it, you will have to cut a couple of flowers and make a herbarium out of them between the pages of the family album.

Attention: if you do not have a floral ribbon, collect the bouquet on the eve of your wedding day. Leave the flowers in fresh water with an aspirin tablet or regular houseplant fertilizer (orchid fertilizer is best). When composing a bouquet, wrap its base with cling film, then satin ribbon on top. Carefully cut the leaf stalks and before leaving the house, keep the bouquet in a vase of water, so that the tips of the stalks sink into the water by 1-1.5 cm no more.
